Compact easy to use sun and wind protection
Nicely made product. We were looking for a compact sun shelter for the beach and this does the job nicely. Relatively light even if it is a bit long to carry. It actually didn’t fit in the trunk of our midsize sedan even diagonally but easily fit across the back seat inside. Not too heavy and I had no problem carrying it several hundred yards to our favorite beach spot. Very easy to setup. Put the lower half of pole in the sand using included rod to twist it in at about a 45 degree angle. Popped open the umbrella and slid it in to the lower pole and locked it in. 2 stakes (8 included) secured the side panels and added 2 more at the back for good measure. 4 of the stakes have large round caps to protect your bare feet which is a nice feature. The three “windows” opened to allow a nice breeze through when seated underneath away from the sun. 85+ degrees in the sun and this provided a nice shaded seating area to extend our beach day considerably. Seems well thought out and well made but time will tell.

Glad I bought this upgrade
Bought this to replace the standard model we had that couldn't handle our beach gust. This heavy-duty model is worth the extra cost. Upgraded material, much thicker support rods, better anchoring. This one handles the wind, no problem. My only complaint is that the storage pouch could be a little wider. Difficult to put this canopy back in.

Good beach day
Easy to set up and good protection from sun and wind; tie downs are not so good. Like the large head stake. Plastic auger is a little less sturdy. A few gusts did up root the umbrella just had to be shifted and re tied. Not as good as our 1st one but pretty good overall.

Looks much better than previous versions from the same manufacture
So far, I am quite happy with this one. Like some of reviews said, I do have the same opinion. Used 10 times on the beach (sometimes windy place) but I do not need extra sand bags. Unlike previous versions, this one has three meshed windows (correct?). That seem to be very helpful to stand when you get windy days on the beach.

poor joint materials
the canopy material was fine, but the umbrella strecher/spokes broke within a week under windy beach conditions at the plastic joints

Quality
Well, I had purchased the Sport Brella premium XL and after three uses, the material started to show small holes. Don't know if I purchased a defective one. Returned it and found this one. Was a little more expensive but the quality was evident. So far so good with this model!!

Questionable in the Wind.
I bought this as a replacement for an earlier version I was given as a gift (that got destroyed in a rainstorm, it was being used on my deck at the time). It works pretty well for one-two people but to go to the beach and use it you need to be sure to screw the auger in AS DEEP AS POSSIBLE, until you can feel it going into wet sand I would suggest. It blew away the first time I used it completely without warning. I had screwed in the base well beyond where you could see the screw part but that wasn't far enough. It can be difficult to open in the wind (I sort of stood INSIDE the umbrella while opening it to be sure none of the ribs bent) and most of the time I am at the beach, there is wind. The anchors are too short and mostly useless. Screwing in the base until it feels like wet sand and opening the "windows" so the wind can go through kept it from blowing away again so far. I think the main pole should be at least a foot longer so it can be anchored better. It may also have to be moved based in the location of the sun depending on how long you are out. It is mostly fine though and I don't regret the purchase. It is easy to transport but the handle on the bag seems very flimsy and the carrying bag opening is sort of small to jam all of the parts back in there.

New and improved!
Kudos to whoever designed this..Huge improvements from my 10 yr old sports brella..A++ don’t hesitate to buy…On windy days, try filling the carry tote with sand and tie the string it comes with under and through the umbrella rings and hook to the tote, it’ll prevent to from flying
