Q: Would it be ok with my nikon d5200. the screen is 3 by 2 inches?

The area viewable is approximately 2 3/8" by 1 7/8". Apart from that limitation, I don't see why not.

Q: Is it suitable for a cannon 5DSR?

Yes. The magnifier can be attached by its clip assembly or as I do when the camera is on a tripod you can hold the magnifier to the screen to use and then let it hang around your neck on the neck cord supplied.
